This question is for those of you who have copies of the Mururoa 12" on Rephlex. Are your copies as shitty as mine are? BADLY marred surfaces, fraying vinyl on the outer edge, tons of surface noise and skips that make the record unplayable. These are EASILY the worst NEW records I've ever seen. It's nice to have a limited edition record with such great artists in my store, but right now I'm basically planning to ship 'em all right back to the distributor. What gives with this garbage, Rephlex? Al @ The Razor Room This message sent from The Net BBS 608-221-5702.

It is quite evident from Grant's posts that the Mururoa EP is _not_ a RePHLeX release. He wrote that RePHLeX only took part in the production costs. Again: Mururoa EP is _not_ a RePHLeX release. I have yet to receive my copy, so I am unable to share my opinions on the quality of wax, let alone the music itself. It is still unclear to me whose music is on the EP, but I think I will find out soon enough. -- nuutti 'gordon' meriläinen. gordon@vip.fi. technostructuralist. http[s]://www.vip.fi/~gordon/. finger for pgp2.6.2i public key. fingerprint. 52 BC 87 2B DF 74 31 C9 77 3B 2A E2 1E 52 D1 9C.

As Grant and others have pointed out, this isn't a RePHLeX "release". But,

The copy I listened to had what looked like glue (from the label?) smeared across both sides of the LP. Not unplayable, but LOTS of surface noise. --jeff -- auricle@io.com

well, the copy i've got has fraying vinyl on the outer edge, which i dont think is a mistake, i quite like it actually, and fortunately the surface is perfect-no noise at all, no skips. however, there's not much point in having vinyl like that. one side of the 7" of my universal indicator green has glue or something along a line from outer to inner, and its not much fun listening to it with bad surface noise every revolution. one advantage of cds over vinyl.
