After seeing someone on the list mention the "Parrot" full-length from Germ, I picked up the "Black Chair EP" (GPR). It's quite interesting texturally, but side B has this awful trombone (real, not an FM patch) soloing bit which really turns my stomach. Can anyone tell me if the "Parrot" release has any live instruments on it? I certainly hope that this isn't the case... Thanks, GD

Yeah?..cool, I'm into stomach-turning-weirdness-techno! I already listen to a lot of experimental/noise and avant/bebop/jazz, so let me know if you want to sell it!

Yes, GD, there are lessee... two tracks on the "Parrot" DLP that have predominate trombone/trumpet(possibly not real since trumpet is not listed in the credits, tho' trombone/doublebass/electric-bass GUITAR are) However, if you like the textures on the electronic side, it might still interest you as there is a lot of weird choppy drum-accent-rolls and extreme filter chirps and dub-like bass lines start-stopping all over the place... I liken it to Max Roach's "Chattahootchie" LP from 1982, tho' I doubt many IDM'ers are familiar/into that. The drumming is a lot stiffer on the Germ o'course...
