by the way... whoever's thinking about buying the neu! cd reissues should note that the japanese editions are supposed to have much better sound - i believe i read this on the FE site about a year ago when they came out. also, don't pass over the harmonia cd called "musik von harmonia." it was a 1974 collaboration between rother, moebius and roedelius. gorgeous, motorik krautrock and IMHO much more listenable then the neu! lp's, which are all a little spotty (again, IMHO). shoot, there's even a track on the harmonia cd called "hausmusik" ! there was at least one more harmonia cd called "deluxe" that i didn't like nearly as much and sold back, but "musik von..." is absolutely the shit. mike np: harmonia, of course

Eh? Japanese issues of the original Neu! albums? Unless there's a new batch of boots running amok, I don't think they exist yet (but we can all pray). Amon Duul CDs, yes, but I think Rother & Dinger are still having a colossal pissing contest over the rights.

If I had to rate 'em (and I don't), I'd say that the first Neu has it all over Musik von (which certainly is great). The thing about MvH is that it sounds exactly like what you'd think it would- a soft, fuzzy Cluster w/ a Neu! backbeat. No surprises there. _Deluxe_ wasn't as good but is a pretty potable brew all the same (with a sound more comparable to the contemporaneous Kraftwerk sound ('75, Ralf und Florian). -rob --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
