Anybody know if the new Shamen stuff is any good? I though Boss Drum sucked. But I had heard they did that on purpose and were going to release something really kickass. Or was that just an excuse for a crappy record? Also, is there anything good these days in the vain of Underworld/Fluke/YAP/Leftfield/Juno Reactor, etc. Something so hypnotic it makes you nauseous (yet it has a great beat and you can dance to it)? Thirdly, does anybody know if there's a bootleg out or coming soon for this latest Orb tour? That show kicked ass. And I thought he was getting old! Finally, and I know I'm gonna get super-flamed for this one, but what the heck. I heard a remix of NIN's Ruiner that just ROCKED. It was HARD, with some vicious keyboards. So good, it makes me almost think he might be steering back toward making good music again. Let the beatings begin! Mistress ov Masochism (who wants to join me for Spanksgiving?)

If you didnt' like Boss Drum you really won't like the single Destination Eschaton. It is even more cheesy. I don't know if the rest of the album is like that or not, but I would fear the worst. I actually liked Boss Drum a lot, but I'm a sucker for a happy vibe and silly white-man rap. I don't believe that they made Boss Drum bad on purpose because it was better than the US version (don't know about the brit version) of En-Tact and I don't think you could make a good argument that they were making a series of bad records and plotting their comeback. I also don't think Boss Drum or En-Tact were bad, but techno wise they may be a bit thin. I think they are naturaly cheesy and they should revel in it. They sort of remind me of the Lightning Seeds. I think NIN is perpetually trapped in a downward spiral. It's the classic trap of people who make angry music. Once you are rich and famous you just don't have the same core of anger anymore. People can't relate to your problems. Suddenly it all looks like play acting. [fletcher] - [e's are good, e's ebeneezer good]

In terms of intelligence, the new single Destination Eschaton has nil value. But if you want floor-filling handbag house, the 2X12" is really good. There are two shamen mixes, two hardfloor (vocal/less vocals), and two garage-y Beatmasters remixes. And then there are two others which are good, yet I can't remember who did them. Phil Downey

I picked up Fluke's Oto, dunno what to make of it, it almost sounds industrial, but its not, its got lyrics, my friend says it has *melody*. I also bought Fluke's single, 4 versions of Bullet off Oto. I like those versions better, they're longer and more intense. After about 6 or so listens though I kinda had my fill. > Mistress ov Masochism (who wants to join me for Spanksgiving?) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ color me red

It is my bet that if you like Mr C's rapping (which I must admit, sometimes suits the mood...oops) then the album will be just your pair of socks. Isn't there a free ambient album with it? Apparently they wanted that to be the album release proper, but the record company said "Does this look like April Fools' Day to you, mate?", and so they went back into the studio and recorded an album of "proper" Shamen tracks.

IMO, Boss drum was excellent rave stuff and Axis mutatis the new one is crap so you might like it :)

heard the COIL remix of NIN on the remix album (fixed or broken...) ? Pretty harder than NIN and much much better! snow
