Having witnessed a different but equally distressing event (the Traci Lords slutfest at the LA Enit), I thought it relevant to cross-post this to other lists. This person observations should not be overlooked, and we should all be aware of this kind of shit, 'cause it seems to be happening a lot in the "scene" lately....

[amazingly accurate portrait of Keoki deleted] two words - FUCK KEOKI. I'm from the east coast, i've seen Keoki spin lots of times. there was a period of about a year where i didn't hear him. apparently he got his shit somewhat together during that year, because everytime i saw him spin he was so fucked out of his mind people had to help him find his records. dodgy mixing and insane combinations made for shitty sets constantly. needless to say i've always disliked him. I saw him after i moved to San Francisco at the Futur party.. I dug him. he was decent. good mixing. good tunes. I now had the incredible opportunity to express my feelings to the man himself the following brief conversation took place in a hallway at a huge party: (an e'd up)ME: Keoki, good set tonight. KEOKI: yeah, thanks ME: you surprised me. KEOKI: what? ME: you surprised me. usually you suck. 'superstar dj' keoki then launches a dirty look at me and mumbles under his breath at me for waht seems like five minutes as my friend Doug and i walk away. I was only telling the truth (with uninhibited help from the e..:), and wasn't out to dis, but in retrospect it all came out okay :D mikebee
