Is the BPM list still around? If so, could someone post the address?
I've got a 2700 and I had a 2000 before it. Some of the extra features of the
2700 are the ability to loop spots of any size, samples up to six seconds (in
44khz stereo), and a memory that remembers up to 99 different locations on 16
different discs. The jog wheels are also extremely nice to have for
searching. You can blaze through a 30 minute track in about 60 seconds.
The 2700 was riddled with bugs when it first came out, I've since had the ROM
upgraded and most of them are gone (unfortunately, I've lost the bug list that
I helped construct with someone on the BPM list). The most annoying was a
tendancy to lock up with a disc in one side and the only way you could get it
out was to switch to vinyl and power down. Since the upgrade, I haven't had a
single problem.
To be frank, I don't use a lot of the extra features. Samples are cool at
times, but the seek is fast enough that I can usually just CUE and START at
the point without having to take the extra time to sample it. The loop is
cool, but VERY hard to set up properly. It would be extremely difficult to
use it in a live situation. By the time you get a loop setup, the other side
has usually finished playing so it is worthless to mix in.
However, the jog dials are almost worth the extra price. I've been able to
search through almost an entire CD trying to find a certain section that I've
forgotten the location of while the other side is rapidly running out. The
2000's search functions are nowhere near this fast.
The memory function is also used periodically when I want to play something
from a trackless disc.
