I-IV (Vol. II at top) ...I Care Because... cover - it look like could be a painted photo - if it really was painted and not based on a photo its quite brilliant though not necessarily settling. Worst Warp release - Black Dog 'Bytes' other than the genius first track this album bites. (i can feel the heat comin) pm

BECAUSE YOU KNOW YOU DONT MEAN WHAT YOU SAY.IF BYTES ISNT WHAT YOUR LOOKING FOR,MAYBE YOU SHOULD STICK TO SHALLOW TRACKS OR NICE AND SIMPLE ACID BLINDERS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE SO DRUG FUCKED THEY DONT GIVE A SHIT WHAT THEY LISTEN TO. PERHAPS YOUR RIGHT.WHATS THE POINT OF CREATING SOME ATMOSPHERE WHEN YOU CAN RUN OFF A WISHY WASHY MUSHY PIECE OF TRASH THAT AFFECTS "YOU" IN THE SAME WAY IN LESS THAN TEN MINUTES.eg NAMLOOK. I DONT THINK THE WORLD PARTICULARLY CARES IF YOU APPRECIATED BYTES AS MUCH AS EVERYONE ELSE DID.PERHAPS "YOU" NEED TO LISTEN TO IT A FEW MORE TIMES.THIS CHEAP PROVOKING OF PEOPLE MAY BE EFFECTIVE BUT THE REALITY OF THE SITUATION IS THAT YOU EITHER DONT KNOW WHAT THE FUSS IS ABOUT OR YOUR NOT SERIOUSLY INTERESTED IN MUSIC FROM THE SOUL\EXPERIENCE FIELD. * ITS NOT ABOUT COMPLEXITY, (VALID AS IT IS), ITS ABOUT SOUL. "You" by Air a "mushy piece of trash?" Have you had your hearing checked lately? Namlooks "Air" project is one of the most widely acclaimed and overall respected pieces of work in the ambient field of music. You trash someone because you don't like what they have to say about "Bytes" then you do the same, but you do it about a musical work that you have no clue about. I've heard some fair criticisms (although I may disagree) of some of Namlook's other work but by calling Air what you did it shows you really don't know what you are talking about.

Wow....that's really something...I can say the same about you! Perhaps "YOU" need to listen to Namlook a few more times! :)

I recently programmed, tweaked, and generally sweated profusely over a 606, 101, and 303 I had all set up and going while an experienced dj mixed from Kraftwerk's "The Mix" into the first track on the 'BYTES' album, and the dancefloor started to clear out. That track is totally more interesting and FUNKY than 4OTF 909(or R8) and 303 acid, yet nobody dances to IDM. Goes to show that the crowd at the Garden in Portland (Oregon) doesn't know shit from bathwater. I get the feeling that this non-4OTF idm-ish stuff is "nerd"-music as my dj-friend puts it. Hey, I'm proud to be a nerd/geek/whatever, but why can't the dorks on the dancefloor get into anything that isn't ultra-simple and constructed on 4verses - drums-change - 4verses - drumschange - 303'solo'for16bars - repeat repeat - repeat - repeat - repeat - repeat Black Dog drops doggie poos on the dancefloor and everybody is afraid to step in it and looking bad (metaphor about dancing to IDM)

Yeah, well hardly anyone in the club scene in PDX has SOUL it seems! This girl came up to my friend who was dj'ing (right during the Bytes track) in the midst of this bliss and said "can you play something danceable?" Duh. When I saw the Black Dog (RIP; actually they were Plaid) play, all the nerdy IDM fans (yep; me) that you'd expect to be dancing like fiends were just stood round, gaping at the gorgousness that was seeping from the speakers. The regular club people who only turned up to hear the house DJs at the beginning, were the ones who were really getting into it. And a lot of it was really nasty acid too. Bizarre. || [CiM] || u9323899@sys.uea.ac.uk || http://www.sys.uea.ac.uk/~u9323899/
