miles: when on tue, 25 Apr 1995 i posted a message to idm expressing
discomfort at the assimilation of 'young innovators' into the mainstream of
'televisual advertising', i hoped this might encourage pragmatic debate of
the manipulations of that industry. after all, "thoughtful & specific
criticisms generate useful dialogue" as you seem to recognise; indeed it
did, with several individuals responding directly, or to the mailing list.
but had i realised then that you would usurp the forum in an emphatic
attempt to coerce people to justify to you why they dislike aphex twin's
music, maybe i would have been less mirthful in my replies. as you say,
"it's a bit alarming that someone... is so incapable of any kind of TOPICAL
criticism", so perhaps next time you'll resist the temptation to make me
laugh & i'll resist the flame-bait temptations of "careless & casual
criticism".
