There's a Children of the Bong track on the 2nd "feed your head" compilation. There are rumours of a new 12" by Children of the Bong coming out soon on Planet Dog. For more info check out my Planet Dog discography at the URL below ... Greetings from Amsterdam, Chrome // Sasja "CHrOmE" Barentsen chrome@xs4all.nl -o- http://www.xs4all.nl/~chrome/

Hi, folks! I am just curious to see if anyone else is familiar with Children of the Bong. It seems that they've only released one album (Sirius Sounds) and now may be broken up. But I LOVE this stuff. Does anyone else out there know of either any other Children of the Bong material or of things you might recommend in their place? Also, I saw the thread earlier about Wagon Christ's new album. I have Musipal and I _love_ it. I think my favorite track is Thick Stew with all of the funky animal sounds. It's everything I expect from him after Tally Ho. -Amelia (DJ Arwen) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Wow I totally forgot about this record. A little dated but it still sounds dope. Sorta electro dub or something. That first track is sick. Thanks for reminding me.

I have to respectfully disagree. I think Musipal is the weakest Wagon Christ yet. It sounds like the leftovers/cutting room floor stuff from Big Soup and Tally Ho. It sounds like the half realized tracks Luke was making which lead up to the much more cohesive and flowing stuff on the mentioned albums. So many of the same samples, so many garden variety Vibert amen and apache tweaks that don't really shine. I think actually he's sort of stuck in a rut. He keeps doing the same thing. Only not as infectious as the first times around. And add insult to injury one of the tracks on the album was previously released on another compilation or something. I know we've had this debate before but I wish he would surprise us and make an uptempo record again. Or maybe he could give us some nicely done kitsch garage tracks! :) -nate --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yes that is an amazing lil album, I think they all went off to join some psy-trance bands after that... Similar but not as good - Total Eclipse - Violent Relaxation on Youth's Dragonfly trance label. A lot of UK trance in that 95/96 era sounds like children of the bong, but not as defined to that dubby melodic styles... I guess it was goa trance or some such misnomer -i --- Amelia Arwen <dj_arwen@hotmail.com> wrote:

A recent release (Nov. 2000) on the Dragonfly label is Dub Trees' "Nature never did betray the heart that loved her" by Youth with (ex Orb-er) Greg Hunter and Simon Posford (Tip, Twisted, Shpongle etc. etc.) Doesn't exactly raise my temperature, but it's in the same general league and very bong-friendly.
