As was quickly pointed out, my question about the AI#1 cover was specifically answered in the idm info message. Sorry about that. It was a while ago that I subscribed. So I revise the question for all you trainspotters: Does anyone know exactly which version of "Autobahn" we see the cover of? I have a vinyl copy of it, and it's not that one, but I do recognize the logo. Sorry about that, chris (wouldn't you know it, I *just* come out of lurking mode and immediately put foot in mouth! :)

Actually, I don't think it's 'Autobahn' at all. They used that traffic-cone logo on several early releases. I think the one pictured is either 'Kraftwerk 1' or 'Kraftwerk 2' (I don't buy vinyl, obviously). The Motorway sign *IS* Autobahn (1974 Vertigo release) the reissue of Autobahn (on Parlophone?) has the motorway sign as an inner sleeve design. The original release even has the lyrics printed on the back... Wow.... Traffic Cone? Pah! It's one of those signs you see on joining the Motorway, or Autobahn. Although I think here in the UK we only get them with a line through when we reach the end of the motorway. I had a www-mosey on down to the Kraftwerk infobahr - http://www.cs.umu.se/~dvlawm/kraftwerk.html And this image appears in dark blue, and is described as the Autobahn Booklet. Oh. So that wasn't very conclusive. By the way, am I the only one to have noticed that the packet of king-size rizlas resting on the WARP LP is wrong in this picture - the text slopes the wrong way. Umm, excuse my Americo-centric ignorance, but, what are "rizlas"? The latex thingys some poeple got bent about when Terre Theimlitz espoused their unconditional use in the liner notes on his album? On the "why-ask-why" questions front: Does _anyone_ buy regular size condoms when there are packs of the "Large" size right next to them? Doesn't _everyone_ find the "slimmer fit" of the regular size just too constricting? OK. OK. This discussion is going right down the terlet. "Rizlas" are the most popular rolling papers used in the uk - you know - what you would use to roll a 'big fatty' when you're not smoking 'bowls' or bongs. 'Swan' papers stick better though.Graham(c648574@cclabs.missouri.edu)>

No sirrrrreee, why I have noticed that the text slopes in a 45 degree angle, perpendicular to the rislaz which are actually *double king size*. thats very important to note. And the traffic cones are highway regulation 151 yellow, manufactured in Kansas, by a good friend of mine Lou Bagovich. I contacted him and he tells me he indeed manufactered that cone in 1972. He was feeling sick that day and put a scuff mark on the cone, which you can see on the cover. And the image actually appears in light hyperion 35 sky blue. Made by New York Tool and Die in 1992 by Carlos Medecina. I cantacted him to confirm this and he is presently researching this day and nite to tell us mor about the color. ; ) sashainboston
