From NME's "Vibes" section (17 December 1994):
Jedi Knights: Jedi Knights EP (Clear)
-------------------------------------
The debut release on new label Clear (set up by one-third of Aphex's
Rephlex label) is a stunning, Mantronix-style mantra from the Jedi
Knights, aka Global Communication in yet another guise.
Forget insipid '80s retro, Mark and Tom offer a true reappraisal
of the decade, unearthing the futurist funk vibe of those early
'Streetsounds' compilations. 'May The Funk Be With You' is an inspired
piece of elastic-electro, the perfect soundtrack for breakdancing in
shopping precincts and therefore becomes Vibes Single Of The Week Two.
Watch this label - it's going to be massive.
Has anyone seen this or bought this yet, or did the reviewer just get a
promo copy? I ask because a while back there was talk about this being
released in early January, not mid-December.
Also, does anyone have a fairly accurate Applied Rhythmic
Technology discography? If so, please mail it to me. If not, I'd be happy
to compile one if people were to send me submissions... :)
Thanks!
- Matthew
