I'm still wading through the stuff I bought at the weekend x-mix-3 triple pack 12 tracks Not recommended I'm afraid This is the kind of techno that seems to be favoured by club DJs at the moment: c135bpm, Kicks in a club, Sounds rather dull at home. I bought this on the back of x-mix-2, and the fact that this pack includes FUSE vs LFO - Loop. I'm, a bit of an LFO fan and missed this when available on promo. No doubt a copy of it would cost about as much as this LP. All the same I was disappointed. Track listing: Cal-Q-Lator - Dr Bradford Telephone receptionist intro seems unconnected to track Laurent Garnier - Astral Dreams (Speakers Mix) There are better tracks than this single on his LP Erik Van Den Broek - Ursa Major 7 K.Hand - Flashback This is based on Beltram's "Energy Flash" Barada - Glue FUSE vs LFO -Loop Speedy J - Evolution Probably the dullest Speedy J track I have heard Peelo - Neewa Scanner - Mass Observation Only very small snippets of scanned calls in this. One of the best tracks on the album Math-u-matics - Blue Nicole - A small path into a large ?? -oops didn't write this down. Major howler on the tracklisting, discs 1 and 3 are completely transposed. The sleeve and labels match the run-out info, but the tracks are switched. And some sides are cut off-centre, notably the one with the LFO track :( Might take it back. No doubt there will be an interesting video of this compilation, however the tracks are rather disapointing imo. System 01 Take My Soul Tresor 12" Fairly unremarkable trancer with "Take my Soul" and more prominent "Give it to me" female vocal samples, plus longer Sun Electric mix as flip, plus "Mind Sensations" which uses System 01's own old "Drugs Work" sample, plus quotes about kids making money from selling drugs. Hmmm. OK for £1.99 anyway Goldie presents Metalheads Inner City Life. ffrr 12" Very clean tight jungle (drum+bass?) track with soulful vocals. Should prove to be a bit of a grower. Resistance D Inexhaustibility EP Harthouse 5 track double EP DarkSide Skyline Throm 3 Rezolution Spacewalk Standout track is Throm 3 - understated acid and a sense of foreboding which pervades many of these tracks is strong in this one. All very well produced - a sound which is both energetic and danceable, yet listenable and engaging for home use. Next up: Beaumont Hannant "Sculptured" plus "Ormeau" singles. Syn 05 12" from Pete Namlook J ^

Fax. first Fax 12" I've seen, apart from a collector pack for megaquids a few months back. I know there were lots yonks ago, but I never saw them. btw I should have said Syn 5, not Syn 05 Well here's my "mini review", except that I don't have any notes. I con't remember the title, but it's two 15 minute tracks If you like Pete Namlook generally you'll like this. It's a mixture of spacey ambient (an old Sequential track springs to mind) and the kind of brash trance that he has done before. My mind has gone blank for the CD names/titles, but it's like the Trip to Mars/ Trip to Earth/ Atmosphere processor/ whatever else stuff that I have on a CD double pack, one track of which turned up on TEX (vol 2 I think) It is _not_ like the Syn "Painamplifier" track off Fax compilation 4 J ^
