Thursday 3rd November, The Rocket, N. London. Old Films/New Music is part of the London Film Festival (?) and tonite was the Aphex Twin playing to the 1922 film 'Nosferatu' and Technova playing to 1920 'Cabinet of Dr Galigari'. The Rocket is a great old building with a huge vaulted roof, full circle and stage areas and entrance lobby and several other smaller attached rooms. I would love to tell you what an impressive performance Mr James made, how he is the techno Mozart, but I cant. Why ? Because he cancelled at the last minute, Why ? no one at the venue or elsewhere can tell me. The best I got was "'es got the 'ump wid somint" from one of the door staff. Thus we were subjected to an ecletic mix of stuff that didn't really fit the film. I still managed to enjoy the film as it was such a huge screen with a perfect unobstructed view (mostly coz few people turned up) and I had read Bram Stokers novel not so long ago. But apart from this the whole thing was lousey, no people, poor sound and no main act. If anyone has a mailing address for RDJ I wouldn't mind knowning exactly when he cancelled, if it was before my friend bought the tickets then I can get my money back. Watching the fireworks all over London from one-tree hill on Saturday night (guy fawkes night) whilst enjoying a kentish brew more than made up for Thursdays disappointment. I also got to see the opera at the Royal Opera House (Covent garden) on Tuesday (recommended to ANY music lovers) and the Tribal Energy Party on Friday (at the Rocket again) was storming. Its a tough job but some ones got to do it. AndiF

For those of you who were wondering, this roughly translates as "He's not very happy with something" :) :: Alan M. Parry :: fluid@hyperreal.com :: <finger me for PGP key> :: http://hyperreal.com/~fluid
