although i am not claiming to be an expert on the subject, the review is way off. 'ambient jungle' does not exist. jungle is hardcore/breakbeat with dance hall, reggae, patois, etc. influences. the sound could hardly be described as 'ambient.' i don't think it would appeal to the 'idm' crowd at all, as it not only has the despised 'chipmunk vocals' but adds 'cookie monster vocals' as well (i myself love it). jungle is used improperly as a blanket term. it would be as if i said everything discussed on this list was 'trance.' the 'ambient' stuff is a bit harder to describe. metalheads make slightly darkish hardcore tunes, not your typical speed overload old school happy hardcore stuff. i wouldn't call it 'ambient' but you might be able to stick the 'intelligent dance music' tag on it though. hardcore/breakbeat has really gone through a lot of progression, and i think it warrants a closer look if you haven't kept up with it. you might find something you like. stuff like deep blue, 4 hero, omni trio, etc. is definately pushing down boundaries. if you want an easy starting point, i'd suggest the latest lp by 4 hero, titled 'parallel universe.' it's mad combination of hardcore, jazz, and yes, ambience. blissed out music with sped up breakbeats. it is available on cd as well on reinforced records. -- :::ryan pals . \ ` ' / . :::fk453@cleveland.Freenet.Edu ._` __^__ '_. :::the universe flows toward the [()=()] :::ultimate conclusion /_____\
