Hmm.... I don't know how much degredation you get in quality by
recylcing, but certainly one of the problems you get with recycled
vinyl is that scraps of paper get in the melt. This is often clearly
visible in the record, though usually just sounds like a slight
scratch or pressing flaw on playback. In extreme cases, of course, it
can make the record unplayable....
I've always assumed that at least some effort is made to remove the
labels before recycling, just that it might not be as thorough as
you'd hope....
