someone was asking about the exist dance Tranquility Bass track
"lucifaze" a while ago... i finally got a hold of mike kandel and
asked him about it. the weird messed up sample is from a band called
Lucifer. that's all he could remember. he put it in his sampler and
fucked around with it, saving it with the name "lucifaze" which is how
the song got its title...
other bits:
the "transmitting from heaven" compilation (reviewed in IDM times 1.7)
is being distributed by Caroline!!!! this is fantastic news, as it
means that you'll be able to get it in any Tower Records store, pretty
much. also, it is a non-exclusive distribution deal. the compilation
starts shipping on Wednesday (tomorrow).
test pressings of the new single by Up Above The World are in - i'm
gonna get one and premiere it on a KUCI radio show this friday. (oh
yeah, if there are any IDMers in range of KUCI, tune in at 9 and you
can hear me spin for a while... i'll also be playing some tracks from
my forthcoming 12" single called Bass Kittens...)
mike is trying to get astralwerks to commit to doing a full
Tranquility Bass album...
the first two exist dance singles (Merge - "You Move Me" and
Tranquility Bass - "They Came In Peace") are being repressed for a
limited edition "handmade" box set... don't know what that's gonna be
like yet, but given the cool shit that they usually pop into the
envelopes when they send us stuff, it should be Way Nifty.
that's all for now kiddoes...
