everyone, who has asked or questioned.
here is news about the cassette of mine. i have a 100 minute cassette filled
with one side of my solo tracs--it is called enhanced. the name of the "album"
is called "falv." one of many ambigious words that give a vague direction to my
music when you listen to it. i choose this because when you name a song after
an actual word, in any language, you usually get a very clear image of what the
music will be about; and i wish to be a bit more suggestive rather than
descriptive. robert dousieau once said, "to suggest is to create; to describe
is to destroy..."
aside from that, it has been finished for 3.5 weeks. so, some of you inquire,
"where is the tape?" it is not shipped, since i had been attempting to hone my
mixing skills to the point where it did not sound lame. i haven't totally
succeeded at doing so, and everyone's their own worst critic. so, i have
decided to put on a session of ars (ambience recovery system, a collaboration
between charles noel and myself) and a song that i once did last year called
"falling skies" which was since lost in the "sample library" and "memory banks"
of my thick skull.
dave miller and mike brown have both had not many complaints about the music,
so i said basically, fuck it, and just went ahead with it. it should be
enjoyable, i think.
also, don't ask me why i waited so long, i AM THE WORLD'S BIGGEST
PROCRASTINATOR, and quite a few of you can attest to that.
so, when does it get here? well, i will be finished duping cassettes saturday
morning, and i will be ready to send them that day. i will try to put a little
sonething in each of your cassettes' package to make it "arty" as mister
pretenious mike brown would say (hehe [: ) and i hope that to say by Friday of
next week wouldn't be too late of a deadline. .
as for those who have never heard of it, me, or anything else, i think mike
brown summed it up with a new category entitled "intelligent ambient electro."
i guess that sounds about right, but i think that i would go to say that it is
a bunch of rhythms and patterns that evolve around each other. 2/3's of my
music and equipment is done without MIDI. i use 90% analogue gear, the rest
being my roland mv.30 sequencer/synth module. FUN
if you would like a cassette, i would be happy if you can send a tape (90+
minutes.) the 100 minute cassette will fill one side (enhanced) but there is
usually 15-20 minutes on the other side which is unused. so, those who send
longer tapes get more music. . and return postage will be ~$.75.
see you soon.
