a) Don't kill yourself. You are not your music. You'll live.
b) Internet polls suck. Don't trust em. It's about who has most (hacker)
friends.
c) That guys tunes don't suck imo but they aren't awesome either though.
d) Your stuff I like better, because it reminds me (a lot) of Squarepusher.
Maybe that's a problem. I never feel like buying tunes from a copy if I can
get the original. Developing your own style is mandatory if you want to be
distinguished as an artists.
Teebee (dnb) started out as a Photek rip-off, but he developed his own style
along the way, making him unique.
I remember some guy on a dnb production list who made excellent Photek
tunes. Problem was nobody is interested in selling Photek tunes, unlesss
they come from Photek.
Making music that you think is good, and are proud of is the best way to go
IMO.
Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Autechre (I had to drop this one in, it's the IDM
list after all) and Venetian Snares wouldn't be producing the tracks they
are if they would have made what was popular at the moment, instead of their
own take of it.
