I wasn't referring to white labels either... a lot of my friends produce,
and I've been passed a lot of test pressings over the years. For example,
oOne of my copies of Shitfuckers by Venetian Snares is definately a test
(has a date stamped sleeve - and hub-serval test pressing labels)... and
I've juggled the shit out of that record - without any issues.
Also have a bunch of old WaxTrax! test pressings and the like...
Years back, Massive Magazine did an interview with one of the guys from
National Sound in Detroit... he went into pretty good detail about
misconceptions regarding test pressings, white labels and acetates... how to
handle them and what their lifespan is like.
Clean needles, clean hands and keeping your fingers off the playing surface
= test pressing holding up.
