Modeselektor- 2 Person Live PA (Bpitch, Berlin) Modeselektor have released several records on Ellen Allien?s label Bpitch Control. Their philosophy in centered around distortion and recycling. Relentless buil-ders, they take sounds based on slightly accelerated Hip-Hop beats, working them into hundreds of fragments of ?sound dust? that are created, compacted, and pulverized. Modeselektor are Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, two bon vivants from Berlin who have been making humor-dipped, musically-exciting and dance-stimulating night-time entertainment for nearly ten years. Among numerous remixes, they have released not less than four EPs at BPitch Control -- Hello Mom! is their first full-length release. Taking the lead in a post-techno parade along a gorgeous boulevard of heavy basses, Hello Mom! works like a sampler for acute/def/contemporary/wicked electronic music blatancy. Modeselektor's adaptation of urban catchwords like electro-IDM, booty house, Euro-crunk, continental grime, ghetto-bass, dub-step and such even get the most bored know-it-all off the barstools. http://www.modeselektor.com Derek Michael-Live (Detroit Underground) Established as one of Canada's premier DJ act's, Derek Michael has held residencies at the world's most prestigious venues such as Club Tresor (Berlin) Frigid (Sydney) Friction (Detroit) and Tokyo's Club Core. Since 1996, Derek Michael (aka DM) has consistently incorporated influences from the bizarre to the sublime. From his childhood in Windsor ? just across the water from Detroit ? he soaked up enough Motown, Stooges, jazz and Plastikman to develop an equal appreciation for the cerebral and the ass-shaking. That's a skill that has served him well for studio productions on Hor-Zu (Shitkatapult), Sender and Detroit Underground as well as DJ gigs alongside some of Techno's brightest stars. More recently he has drawn from his interests in architecture and emerging technologies to help coordinate Australia's Sound Summit and the super-secret Lumen House. http://www.derekmichael.com/ Jerry Abstract- Laptop DJ Set (Semisexual, Shitkatapult) Seattle-via-Detroit DJ/producer Jerry Abstract has come into his own this year with a DJ set in Portland that overshadowed Ellen Allien's, appearances at Detroit's Fuse-In fest, and releases for Germany's Shitkatapult and Kompakt Records. For that company, Abstract generates brilliant slabs of knarz-techno, which sounds like a motorboat speeding through molasses?very rigorously. When he DJs, Abstract delivers radical techno and electro bangers that know no other mode than peak. Be sure to check out Jerry Abstract's recent Shitkatapult EP titled "Mudtsmut". http://www.fixelplix.com Nordic Soul (Decibel) Vs. Recess (Shameless)- DJ Set Nordic Soul Solo moniker of Decibel Festival brainchild Sean Horton (Db founder, director, and curator). More than just a moniker, the name "Nordic Soul" describes Horton's production aesthetic, which fuses the soulful sounds of Detroit's urban landscape (Horton's upbringing) with the ethereal textures and melodies associated with Northern Europe (Horton's heritage). Nordic Soul's solo releases, remixes and collaborations range from instrumental hip hop (Emergency Breaks" on K-Records, 1998) to deep techno and often pay homage to multiple genres within a single track. Nordic Soul's most recent remix for the artist Take was released on Buttermilk Records in 2004. As a producer, Horton's vast array of influence spawns from almost 20 years as a musician (guitar, bass, and keyboards) and 15 years as a DJ and avid music collector. Since Nordic Soul's inception in 2003 he has shared the stage with a diverse selection of talent including; Bassnectar, Monolake, Funkstroung, Lusine, T. Raumschmiere, Luomo, John Tejada, New Breed, Boom Bip, Richard Devine, Blue Scholars, Bruno Pronsato, Outhud, Tipper, Phonecia, Electric Birds, Proem, Four Tet, Lusine, Matthew Dear and Derrick May to name a few. http://www.decibelfestival.com Recess Raised on the industrial, new wave, and pop music of the time, in the late 80's Recess quickly found his second home at the now defunct Club Underground in Seattle. Using these early experiences as a platform, he started collecting records and honing his skills at various clubs around the Northwest; quickly establishing himself as a formidable performer. Recess is the main force behind local collective Shameless (responsible for the Official Decibel Festival afterparties and numerous other local events) and continues to turn heads with his unique take on dance music. He has played alongside heavy hitters such as Felix Da Housecat, Damian Lazarus, Ewan Pearson, Adult, Smash TV, Freaky Chakra and could quite easily be caught playing electro/discopunk at one club, baile funk/bmore club/ghetto tech at another, or techno/house depending upon the crowd and party. His versatility has led to being recently nominated for the Seattle Weekly's Best Local DJ contest. http://www.simplyshameless.com Hosted by MC Anton Bomb (Shameless) For years Anton Bomb has made army wear glam and the music accessible. As the Shameless resident MC/Electro Kat prowling the dance floor, he's perfects what it means to have just the 'right amount of freak'. http://www.simplyshameless.com Visuals by Killing Frenzy http://www.killingfrenzy.com Leo Mayberry (aka Killing Frenzy) has been coordinating and performing live video for the last five years. Projects have varied from mod nights to the post-psychedelic noodlings of mentalist and musician Steve Fisk. Along the way, viewers have come to expect the unexpected from a treasure trove of visual oddities, and a desire to explore whatever dark alley might reveal the next forgotten glam-rock musical. The right side of his brain has been developing his own custom Max / MSP / Jitter mixing application, and creating custom installations for events such as the Surrealist Ball and a hexagon-based routing array for an AVIT VJj retreat in Colorado. He recently won a local VJ competition which puts him right up on top of the local VJ scene. http://www.killingfrenzy.com Readings by Spookee Tarot card readings, consultations, and insight.
