Mac Mini would be a great computer for what you're wanting to do. The iMac would be a little better, and would include a monitor, but if you have a monitor already then go with the Mac mini. I'm going to buy one myself to augment my multi-mac setup (it's going to be my DVR/PVR system + audio filesharing server). Since both the new iMac and Mac mini have Intel processors supposedly the increase in speed over previous G4/G5 chips is something on the order of 2x to 5x faster, depending on task. The Mac mini has a built-in graphics card that shares system ram so be sure to get a lot of ram (at least 512 and I'd recommend 1 gig or more). The iMac will play games better since it has its own dedicated videocard and dedicated video memory but if you're not playing games then it won't matter really. Lastly, you can dualboot Windows XP and Mac OS X natively now that Apple released bootcamp, so if you're a gamer like me that's a huge deal. Good luck. -- Mr. Tangent On Apr 25, 2006, at 9:29 AM, nat hawks wrote:
