Big up SFC! Forest of Echo Downs is worth the entry price for the liner notes alone, and the music is lovely - it manages to be quite bouncy and melodic / beaty but simultaneously soundscapey, which is fantastic.
Outside of that, my IDM-spot is mostly being hit by stuff from outside the conventional IDM scene, these days - weirdy beardy drum and bass from Sileni, Breakage, 0=0, microhouse / techno from Alex Smoke (at the sleek, melodic, 21st century Black Dog end) to Ricardo Villalobos (at the glitchy, expansive, psychoactive end), and a lot of dubstep are all a) promising bordering on excellent and b) eminently 'this-listy' if we don't get trapped into thinking of IDM exclusively as a single thread of music starting from Autechre...
Looking at the Planet-Mu release schedule, I'm wondering if Mike Paradinas feels the same way!
