ah, that was right on the cusp of their transformation. i had their first two, 'idylls' and 'ardor', which were just pure cocteauish ethereal/shoegazer. lovely stuff, but their best was the opening track on a projekt compilation, IMO. it's always exciting watching a band evolve so radically. another one like that was seefeel. weren't they kind of a shoegazer/indie rock band before they were on warp for the one release? then cocteau twins themselves followed suit somewhat, getting an electronic remix ep or something that freaked out the goths and new agers. the most radical change to electronic music had to be ulver. there were hints on 'marriage of heaven and hell' (bits of electronic drums thrown in here and there), but when they did 'metamorphosis' and then 'perdition city' they just cut all ties to their black metal past. it was amazing and brave, especially for that scene. d. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
