You know, I read somewhere that all the basic channel, maurizio,
rhythm&sound and a lot of chain reaction records are all produced by this
guy Moritz Von Oswald (r&s produced with mark ernestus). This guy like
single-handedly forged this kind of sound. I also read that the guy has
never done an interview and that there are no known published photographs of
him. Is this all legend or fact? Does anybody know a lot about this stuff? I
find it really intriguing.
From Dusted Magazine: " Mark and Moritz remain almost anonymous in their
creations, never including their names on recordings and refusing any
interview requests. This apparent pretension, however, is more purist than
pompous. Basic Channel, or Rhythm & Sound, however you choose to identify
the duo, genuinely feel their music, a minimalist blend of dub and atmos, is
more important than the knobs, faders, and design that brought it to be.
There is no inherent need to look behind the curtain; the music's coming out
of the speakers."
