Sensory Effect and the PG Series present OSCILLATE---- tuesdays at The Baltic Room--1207 pine st. Seattle WA 10p $3 21+ w/ residents ELECTROSECT, PAUL EDWARDS, GREG SKIDMORE tuesday Sept. 6 we welcome special guests LOGIC PROBE (livePA-SEA) Logic Probe's Dereck and Dave got their start using beat up records, yard sale keyboards, effects pedals, and Logic Probe as a groundwork for their sound. Over time their equipment has steadily evolved from samplers and keyboards to laptop computers, yet their off-beat musical vision has remained intact, never shying away from unexplored territory. Logic Probe has completed soundtrack work for several independant films, remixed songs for bandls such as Botch, Waxwing, and Obelus, as well as keeping busy playing live throughout the Northwest. Tonight Dereck and Dave join us for an exciting live set. SPLINTERS (live- Woodsn Lateral records-SEA) Splinters is the moniker for Woodson Lateral label head Ben Torrence's solo electronic project. Splinters is an opportunity for Ben to release some of his computer-based compositions that fall outside of the styles and/or collaboritive working methods of the laptop duo, Bookmobile, that he's in along with Victor Couto. Ben has been an active musician writing and performing in various bands since 1993. He has played guitar and sang in a poppy punk rock band (Bicker), played drums and/or bass in a number of bands playing everything from hardcore and math-rock to slow-core and space rock (Quell, The Sallow Bag of Doom, City Of, Trucker of the Sea and others), played freely improvised post-rock (Recidivist) and combined both laborious compositon and improvisation with computers (Lamplighter, Bookmobile). He is also currently playing post-whatever rock music with Robbie Hunt (Also of Bicker, Quell, City Of) in Lunch Buddy Program. Ben began making music with computers as early as he had the means to do so, beginning with general midi tinkerings back in 1995. Splinters draws inspiration from many forms of music, but lately has been most informed by microsound artists on labels such as 12k, Raster-Noton, and Mille Plateaux, beat-driven electronica of folks like Opiate, We™, Bows, and TRS-80, and the minimal techno of Ozy, Pan American, Bruno Pronsato, Murcof/Terrestre, Lusine and others --------------------------------- Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
