There's this release by The Album Leaf called 'In a Safe Place' that I've found to be... well, just rather *nice* (yeah, I'm up for a reviewer post at 'The Wire' ;-)), for those moments when I'd rather not have my equanimity put at risk by creeping melancholics, or pulled down into chthonic depths, or pummelled by beat breakage. Basically, it won't upset the neighbours or startle the cat, but it won't insult your intelligence. It ain't IDM, but has some of the appeal of its more post-rock oriented practitioners. Not a Huge Recommendation or anything, it's just a pleasant way to be accompanied for 50 minutes. Failing that, there's a new Manual release out in May which might do the trick. http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/a/album-leaf/in-a-safe-place.shtml http://www.angryape.com/news/2005/04/manual-azure-vista alan --On 20 April 2005 17:02 +0100 David Sim <pmxds@nottingham.ac.uk> wrote:
