Hi, Nate and I have stopped producing music under the name String Theory as of 1 January 2005. There are no less than five other bands or projects also using the name, so we figured rather than deal with possible confusion or lawyers we would just change the name of the project. String Theory, as a scientific subject, has been superceded by M-Theory (http://www.damtp.cam.ac.uk/user/gr/public/qg_ss.html), which attempts to unify the five superstring theories and the 11-dimensional supergravity theory into one Mother-of-all theories. Unfortunately M-Theory is a pretty gay band name, possibly suited to a BT or Paul Van Dyk side-project, so we decided to say "fuck physics" altogether. For more information on M-Theory, please consult http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-theory. We are now producing and performing as Thorny Tigers. Thorny Tigers should be considered a functional descendent of String Theory, though not the same band. Even though the members are the same. For more information on Tigers, suckle again at the teat of Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tigers. Or http://thornytigers.com. Thorny Tigers will be playing their second show on 14 April 2005 at the Empty Bottle in Chicago with Midstates, Alan Astor and The Idle Hours. We are performing a 30-minute set starting at precisely 9:30pm so don't show up at 10pm and front like you're all disappointed that you missed us. Other projects will be forthcoming soon. Our final release as String Theory is titled "Rubyray". It is available via the Electrochelou web label (http://www.pas-sages.org/). I wish I spoke French so I could read the copy, which probably says very nice things about our music. Here is a direct link to the Rubyray page. http://www.pas-sages.org/listen.php?artist_id=74 String Theory's richly storied back catalogue is and will continue to be available through the fine people at Skam Records, Consumer's Research and Development, Someoddpilot, and Wobblyhead. Smoke 'em if you got 'em. xo, Strings/Tigers tigers@thorntigers.com -- String Theory stringtheory@thornytigers.com http://thornytigers.com/stringtheory/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
