've had a chance to hear an advance of Autechre's latest release, and my
first impression is that it's damn good, although it's an advance, the
final retail won't differ all that much.
I haven't had much time to dive into the tracks, but they're already strike
me as having that ethereal autechre quality to them. Lots of insane heavily
condensed percussive rolls and tumbling explosions of gated slidebombs,
chained to haunting warbles and wanderings.
It seems a lot more melodic and constructed than Daft 7.3, but not a
regression to earlier releases either. I think people who have grown wary
of their deepening exploration into whatever it is they're doing will be
pleased that this latest work isn't MORE challenging to approach than Daft
7.30.
I'm pretty excited and can't wait to buy my retail copy. :) A lot of
anticipation, when satisfied by my first listen, makes for a happy camper.
Hope you all are enjoying your Valentine's day.
