NEW FEATURED ARTISTS:
PIANA || Snow Bird (cubicmusic/12k, 2003)
Apart from being a cute Japanese girl, Piana is a full-fledged electronic
musician and producer, whose diary kind of music and lyrics convey an
intimate, melancholy and even surreal glimpse of Japanese women electronic
music art. We are particularly proud to have won Piana for our website.

KYO ICHINOSE || Lontano (cubicmusic, 2004)
As a composer of contemporary music with a Master of Arts degree from the
Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Kyo Ichinose evokes the
sound of "the present" - and one may add a present that is universal in
terms of being calm, smooth and soothing.

HASHIMOTO KAZUMASA || epitaph (flyrec, 2004)
Reminiscent of French Film Noir, Kazumasa's music has many a story to tell.
Blending piano and orchestral sounds with glitch and computer processing,
the narrative structures of his tracks are perfect for relaxing brain
cinema.

YXETM+ || Milles Comedies (airplane label, 2003)
A sound artist who travelled Europe and the States, exploring the "inner
ache" of existence. His chanting and laptop processing have been described
by David Toop as "feeling the chill presence of ghosts wandering through
ruins." So much for the heavy arts.

ARTISTS WE ADDED IN DECEMBER 2004
POLA || Même (plop, 2004)
Click-house for the club and the home. Dysfunction, skips, and brilliant
pads reveal Pola's amazing sound-consciousness and wizardry in sampling and
mixing. If Pola wasn't Japanese, he would be speaking the language of French
philosophy and German techno by SND. Pola is the latest cutting-edge
discovery by Tokyo based Plop label.

OMB || color field (daisyworld, 2004)
After his debut album Oral/Method on Tokyo based flyrec label, Omb releases
his second full-length album on Daisyworld after his acquaintance with
Hosono Haruomi (Sketch Show, YMO). Omb is part of the new generation of
young and fresh electronic musicians in Tokyo, travelling the crossroads of
electronic and acoustic sound.

SORA || re.sort (plop, 2003)
A glimpse of electronic summer holidays, re.sort also reassembles bossa nova
and jazz records into analogue warmth, vinyl clicking and low-frequency
groove whoosh. Sora is Japanese and means "sky," and since Sora comes from
Kyoto where all the temples are, he probably also knows that Sora is the
Chinese character for Buddhist emtiness aka fullness.
