I haven't read anything on the IDM List for the past month or so- however, I
was thinking about my top 10 for this year; this (top 10) derives from the
IDM/Electronic vein, and other forms of music emanating from this year- so
here goes:
1.Secret Frequency Crew "Forest Of The Echo Downs" (Schematic)
2.Liars "They Were Wrong So We Drowned" (Mute)
3.Sixtoo "Chewing On Glass and Other Miracle Cures" (Ninja Tune)
4.Arovane "Lillies" (centre city offices)
5.Les Georges Leniningrad "Sur Les Traces De Black Eskimo" (Alien8
Recordings)
6.Ultradyne "Is Evil" (Warp/Sabotage/Clone) *doesn't constitute an album,
pfft... whateva*
7.Solvent "Apples + Synthesizers" (Ghostly)
8.Beans "Shock City Maverick" (Warp) *this was a little premature to list I
know; however listening to this for the past week (since picking it up) has
done wonders for my ears*
9. Fennesz "Venice" (Touch)
10.Milanese "1 Up" (Warp) *another non-album* ^_^
2004 (in sum) was another superb year in music; however I didn't pick many
albums derivative to this year. To me this was a year of 'regression,'
picking up early IDM work(s) and early snythesizer music, and a lot
proto-industrial, but the list aforementioned were highly enjoyable gems.
