PHOENECIA (Schematic / Warp) *LIVE* +++ Schematic & E.L.M. Ticket Giveaway +++ __ Friday Night :: Nov. 26, 12-3a (PST) __ KUCI 88.9 FM, Irvine CA. (Radio) __ KUCI :: http://kuci.org (Streaming) __ D::N :: http://digitalnimbus.com Digital::Nimbus are proud to announce the debut 3-hour *LIVE* performance of PHOENECIA flying in from Schematic headquarters in Miami, Florida. Phoenecia's signature blend of experimental electro-glitch-dub transmissions are sure to radiate 1000's of miles from its original source so prepare for an avalanche of textured electronic frequencies emanating from the studios of KUCI. Phoenecia also performs *LIVE* for E.L.M. Conceptions the following night (11/27) alongside Jega, Otto Von Schirach, 8 Frozen Modules and RD x Trichome in Los Angeles. A Schematic giveaway and a pair of tickets for the E.L.M. event will also take place during the broadcast. Expect to hear NEW and UNRELEASED Schematic audio *LIVE* on-the-air! __ PHOENECIA Bio::: Appropriating their name from (probably) the first culture of the Old World to explore the New, Phoenecia, aka Joshua Kay and Romulo Del Castillo, was inaugurated in Miami, Florida, USA in 1997. Phoenecia's recordings echo the phenomena in the slow contemplative way the music evolves, experimental techno rhythms emerging from strangely glutinous sounding electronic textures. Initially overtly influenced by Warp Records' duo of wayward electronica trailblazers Autechre and the Aphex Twin, Phoenecia received early acclaim for "Randa Roomet," a superb 12-inch double pack for the same then Sheffield, England-based label. On their subsequent self-released album, Kay and Del Castillo's inspirations were more heavily submerged and less readily identifiable. The duo themselves asserted dub - or at least dub's studio methodology - as their main creative precursor. Certainly, Kay and Del Castillo draw from dub's impulse to experiment with noise. The pair previously recorded under the Soul Oddity moniker, releasing an album and a series of 12-inch singles for the US major label Astralwerks. Kay and Del Castillo's subsequent own avant electronic label Schematic was reportedly initiated after Astralwerks staff "used the word 'no' too often" in conversations with the duo. Their Miami- based label has issued tracks by artists such as Otto Von Schirach and Delarosa And Asora as well as Phoenecia remixes by electronic music illuminati such as Richard Devine, Autechre, Ectomorph, and Push Button Objects. Kay and Del Castillo also notably record independently of each other under the respective alter-egos of Jeswa and Takeshi Muto. >> E.L.M. >> __ http://schematic.net __ http://elmconceptions.com/pax __ http://warprecords.com __ http://igloomag.com -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Dig the music kidz, Pietrobot & Freakquency Modulator. :: *** NEW Mailing Address *** Digital::Nimbus :: Electronic Audio Freakquencies __ KUCI 88.9 FM, Friday Nights 12-3am (PST) __ http://kuci.org ++ http://digitalnimbus.com __ PO Box 307, Corona, CA 92878 USA --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
