I agree that FLAC is better than mp3 in the sense of quality and compatibility. On the other hand it is way bigger than mp3 - some people do not have an ability/wish to download such big files, others don't know how to use them (even if include all required software/instructions in the zip) and some artists don't have suitable connections to upload them. So I guess that's a bit of problem here. Btw, I was actually thinking about making Intelligent Toys 2 lossless... FLAC is a lossless format, like WAV, but it's about 4 to 5x larger than an MP3 file. WAV is more like 8 to 9x larger than MP3. MP3 sucks, I can't believe it ever got standardized.
