That's got fuck all to do with the iPod. Get your music elsewhere if you don't like the iTunes Music store. fuck, if you buy your hi-fi from an electronics chain would you go back there to buy your music? you can put unencumbered AAC or MP3 files on the iPod and they play fine.

Actually, Jobs is on record saying that the reason they implemented - weak - drm was so that they could get the labels onboard selling music. They know it's not an ideal solution, there isn't.

An ipod doesn't play ogg files - so what?. Neither does my Technics 1210 play DVD-Audio? WTF. God some people have got such a fucking bone up their ass about this shit. If you don't like it do something else but quit the half-informed whining. Yeah ogg is technically the best - But then there are better audio formats than Vinyl/CD/DVDAudio/DAT but do you see record labels realising in that format? another format will come along in the future as well that will be better than the previous one, what you going to do then? Crucify the Ogg developers? Then a format will come which is better than CD - oh wait there are loads of those already - and you'll be pissed off because all your artists mastered on such lo-fi technology that doesn't feature surround sound and it's no good. Technology is a developing game, your technology will become obsolete, the yardsticks that you use to measure things against will vary in length, and the whole fucking cycle will be repeated.
