Has anybody else picked up the new Bjork album yet? I'm still in the
middle of my "listen repeatedly" phase, but I'm really warming up to
it. There's lots of great tracks and, as someone who studied voice and
did a lot of non-western singing styles, I'm fascinated by what she did
with the human voice. Most of the tracks are close to entirely vocal
samples of various sorts, although some of these make use of digital
transformations to create granular and oddly-pitched effects. I'm
guessing that track 6 ("Who is it") will be her most accessible
ballad-hit, while track 14 ("Triumph of a Heart") will be remixed for
the dancefloor over and over. The album isn't for everyone, I suppose,
but I'm really loving it.
