I think its just that people hold warp up as a bastion of "IDM",
and perhaps an indicator of the viability of the genre (as if it were one)
overall. I don't think that way myself, but alot of people seem to.
As a music listener, one of the great things is you can listen
to whatever you want and pick and choose rather than relying on
label loyalty. Different labels all over put out good stuff...theres
no need to rely on just one or a few, you know?
I think there definitely has been a big movement of "interesting electronic
music"
artists into blurring genres and broadening the boundaries in the past
several
years in many areas, in hiphop, indie rock, "electroclash", pop etc...
It seems like warp is trying to run with those kind of possibilities (good
or bad)
rather than rehash what they're known for.
