Acute Carpark Paw-tracks Summer Action In between the lines Doctor Mix pancake breakfast Signer smiles Panda Bear gone fishing ACUTE Doctor Mix and the Remix "Wall of Noise" is out now! Check out the online shop at <http://www.acuterecords.com/>www.acuterecords.com to get a copy. Hey and if you order in the next 24 hours we'll throw in a free acute button. Originally released on Rough Trade back in 1980 and a huge influence on the Jesus and Mary Chain, "Wall of Noise" is the final piece of the Metal Urbain trilogy. Doctor Mix did noisy covers of The Stooges, Kinks, David Bowie, Roxy Music and more. Check out their version of the Stooges "No Fun" by clicking <http://www.carparkrecords.com/nofun.mp3>www.carparkrecords.com/nofun.mp3. Our reissue includes the "Wall of Noise" lp, all their singles, and many unreleased tracks. In November, Acute plans to reissue for the first time the work of early '80s English post-punk group the Prefects. Headed by Robert Lloyd who later went on to form the Nightingales (who recorded with Cherry Red and Rough Trade), the Prefects were part of The Clash's "White Riot Tour", toured with the Buzzcocks, and played with the Sex Pistols. Soon all their songs will be available on our "Amateur Wankers" cd for the first time. There's even a possibility of a Nightingales US tour.... CARPARK Signer "The New Face of Smiling" will start turning heads next month. Check out <http://www.carparkrecords.com/smiling.html>http://www.carparkrecords.com/sm iling.html for more details. Mixing feedback-drenched guitars and digital tomfoolery, New Zealand's Bevan Smith (aka Signer) has crafted the first proper fuzzed-out pop gem of the 21st century. For fans of Flying Saucer Attack, Missy Elliot, Spiritualized, and Squarepusher. We've posted an mp3 of "Hurricane or Sunshine?" off the new record so please listen at <http://www.carparkrecords.com/signer.mp3>www.carparkrecords.com/signer.mp3 Signer will tour Europe and North America this fall with Paw-Tracks artist Ariel Pink. Dates are forthcoming... The Keith Fullerton Whitman/Greg Davis duo cd is finished and will be called "Year Long" or "Long Year". It consists of live performances during their worldwide tour together back in 2002. We're planning an early 2005 release. Casino Versus Japan is hard at work on his next record as well. We hope to present it to you early next year. PAW TRACKS Panda Bear "Young Prayer" is on the way this September. Often coming much closer to classical composition than to the noise/pop experimentations of the Animal Collective, "Young Prayer" is a collection of beautifully personal and introspective songs. "Young Prayer", recorded in Panda Bear's childhood home by Animal Collective member Deakin and further produced by the mysterious Animal Collective brothers known as Come Winter, guarantees a listening experience as interesting as any Animal Collective release thus far. Coming this October is "The Doldrums" by Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti. Recording at home with only a guitar, keyboard, and 8-track (the drum sounds are all unbelievably created with his vocals), Ariel Pink blends Lite FM and warped lo-fi pop into something beautiful and confusing, yet highly addictive. After years of recording in relative seclusion in the hills of Los Angeles , Ariel Pink (the first non-Animal Collective member on the Paw Tracks roster) makes his official Paw Tracks debut with The Doldrums. Originally a handmade CD-R release a couple years back, The Doldrums was discovered by the Animal Collective during one of their west coast tours and became an immediate favorite. Please visit the brand new <http://www.arielpink.com/>www.arielpink.com. If you haven't seen the new Animal Collective video please visit <http://www.paw-tracks.com/>www.paw-tracks.com.
