John Cage especially, with the whole "everything is music" (ok, that's watered down, but whatever) approach. Lots of the old influences peopel cite with electronic music are fine, but plenty neglect the whole "weird sound" and "pushing the listeners" aspect of it, too. Perhaps not surprisingly, modern music is a product of music that's come before it. I don't think anyone will argue that. I do think that modern music, though, isn't entirely a "sum of the past." otherwise it would sound like the past. -- eggytoast.com : eggtastic.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
