NI's Traktor is the best solution for mixing (just like the first responder said). I use it with an Oxygen8 to control it externally - there's no need for an external mixer - it would be just another piece of gear to lug to your gig. Almost every function I need to perform I can using 26 keys + 10 knobs. In this way the mixing becomes a physical act just like using vinyl. Not "just" but close enough and unique in its own right too. seriously, as someone who has bought records for years and had turtables, fx, and mixers galore, Traktor has made all that gear and physicality obsolete. The only distinct difference is that my fiance concedes I'm not as sexy (her word) to watch sitting infront of my PC, mouse and keyboard in hand as I am with my record box by my side standing over 2 techs and a mixer. The moral is, if you only care about the art, don't bother with turntables. But if you'd like a phone number or a smooch, stick with shlepping records from gig to gig. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
