hey i joined about a week ago and sent a short introduction and a few questions. i was a bad citizen and did not quickly reply/comment on the responses I got. i don't mean to be a bad internet neighbor, so here's my belated responses and comments. thanks for giving a shit.

it's pretty safe to assume I know nothing about anything. I love the music of Hecate, and that's pretty much the extent of it. I didn't want to answer this question, because I figure my ignorance will make some people feel like I'm not worth talking to. Oh well, honesty is the best policy. I believe gender matters. I don't want to start an ideological debate, so I'm going to decline to go any further than that with my answers, except to say that professionally I've "put my money where my mouth is" and been a big supporter of female musicians. i know a lot of people espouse "gender blindness" and think it shouldn't be an issue. i've heard all the arguments. but i believe it matters, and there it is.

look, for the record, I think the above response was rude. also, for the record, my interest is mostly personal, but it is hard for me to separate the personal and the professional, because my life is so tied up in music and the business of music. music has been my main passion for my whole life, and I have a constant craving to investigate new music. It is true that I have made a career out of helping musicians, which is handy since that's what I love to do. I don't even know what "free A&R" is. If it means I might actually check out some of the artists people recommend on this list, well, guilty as charged.

Some good female-led project, off the top of my head >(mostly electronic, not all "IDM"):
a friend of mine who used to be in a group called the no neck blues band put out the excepter record. i just asked cuz i wondered if it fit into idm and if it had "gotten out there" much. it is a record i'd like to recommend, except that i am so unfamiliar with the language of idm criticism, that i wouldn't know what to say about it. i like it when i listen to it. it is definitely not metal. thanks a bunch to everyone who recommended female artists or websites with info, it means a lot to me. i will try to answer any posts that directly regard me in a more timely and thorough fashion, from now on. thanks again Slim -- http://krs5rc.com http://shotclockmanagement.com http://killrockstars.com http://5rc.com AIM/ichat: MMOON1967 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
