Tonight in Atlanta at Eyedrum will be Jackie-O Motherfucker Rat Threads 9:00pm $8 info-404.522.0655 http://www.eyedrum.org http://www.fifthplanetpress.com/tightbros.html info: Jackie-O Motherfucker The evolution of Jackie-O Motherfucker began in Portland Oregon in 1994 when Tom Greenwood and Nester Bucket self produced their first lp (Alchemy...ed. 500), on the now defunct imp records imprint. the psychedelic, d.i.y. Aesthetic proved to be fertile ground as the now expanding group continued to record and issue their music (in micro-pressings) over the next five years. Touring the USA twice, in 1997 and 1998,( with residencies in New Orleans, Baltimore, and New York City), helped to disperse the hand-made lps to fans all over the U.S, and also brought them into contact with an expanding circle of musicians who would eventually join the inspired collective. It was during this period that the Wow lp and The Magick Fire Music 2xlp were produced in Baltimore, and eventually issued on the Fisheye (uk) and Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace! imprints, respectively. Returning to Portland in 1999,JOMF forged an important alliance with Mike Hinds, and his Roadcone imprint, who issued the groups first two cd releases, fig. 5, and Liberation. They documented a now spiraling collective, inspired by an impossibly diverse array of sound and vision...free jazz and rock, graffitti, space rock, folk music, xerox art, text/sound art, hip-hop, performance and video art, electronic and primitive music. the wider distribution and visibility afforded by the efforts of Roadcone delivered these artifacts to a world-wide audience, with much critical acclaim. The release of their third cd, and ninth release in total,"Change" on the Textile imprint (Paris, France) in the fall of 2002 was followed by extensive touring in Europe, and a tour supporting Godspeed You! Black Emperor on the east coast of the U.S and Canada. 2003 marks a new chapter in the JOMF evolution, as they have moved their home base from Portland, OR., to Hudson, NY. Incuring some personnel changes along the way, core members Tom Greenwood (guitar, vox, turntables), Brooke Crouser (vox, keyboards, reeds), and John Flaming (reeds) remain, joined by new and returning members, Theo Angell (prepared guitar, vox, video), Genevieve Dellinger (vox, reeds), and a revolving cast of drummers and percussionists. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!?
