Calling themselves ‘the fellowship of the glitch’ our future politicians will travel the wide open road from cirrhosis to tinnitus and back. Along the way, many new friends will be made, many adventures will be had, and at some point a princess will be saved from the clutches of some anthropomorphic turtle-beast that throws hammers and possibly spits fire. THE CAST R_Garcia first began his affair with electronic music in 1991 by way of an antiquated Commodore Amiga 500 computer and a handful of outdated MIDI gear. Five years later, he released his first cassette of songs know only as ‘tracker demos’ and began to work his way through the blossoming Miami IDM scene, rubbing digital elbows with luminaries like Funkstorung, L’usine and Phoenecia. Eight years later, we find him tirelessly performing throughout the United States -- releasing a series of critically acclaimed recordings along the way. With his venerable homespun label, Nophi Recordings, Garcia has taken quite a foothold in IDM as he uses the label to showcase his own and others' talents. He also takes a role in organizing ezRPM, a weekly collective of electronic and experimental musicians and DJs with a large footprint on the thriving Orlando IDM map. Just shy of 27, Garcia has already composed or performed with an impressive list of 45 musical projects, lending his multi-instrumental talent to several albums, movie scores, remixes and studio sessions -- a testament to his prolificacy. The Flashbulb is one of the many trade names of Benn Jordan, an eccentric and shockingly diverse recording artist that has dominated the underground of electronic music for years. Jordan was and is arguably a key figure in the job of redefining and pioneering new landmarks in computer-based music, and many listeners and artists agree that he is one of the most talented electronic musicians of the generation. Rather than aiming to make strange sounds, Jordan seems to base most his impressively large collection of written material (a discography that surpasses 30 known releases as of 2003) on the ingredients that make emotional and beautiful music. His personality seems as diverse as his music. In 1993 Jordan's first electronic recordings were only sold with supplements of LSD, he releases music under many 'secret aliases' that he refuses to publicly identify, he claims to enjoy writing music overnight in elevators, and he has most recently been found promoting controversial electronic music shows for a dog. Just as Benn may be the worst publicist in the world, his lacking qualities can be easily forgiven by his talents, be it in guitar playing, sitar playing, computer sequencing, or just plain raw talent. (from worldmixing.com) Colour With Sound is the electronic namesake of the enigmatic and passionate composer Jeff Wagner. Jeff began his musical career like so many before him: in a garage band. It was the sweltering heat of the garage and endless blows to the hand by a pawnshop guitar which forged the steel of his razor sharp beats and harmonic hues. While technically a ‘newbie’ to the electronic scene, Wagner exhibits a classiness in his compositions which is not readily available to those just getting started; this is largely due to his endless hours perfecting his craft -- never releasing a note until completely satisfied or disgusted enough to let it go. An outline of his compositional muscle is available in the form of his 2003 self titled EP release on Nophi recordings, which seamlessly wanders the line between breakbeats, classical and sprawling drone-noise. Newer CWS tracks and recent performances hint at a bit of an 80’s new-wave and electro resurgence, all the while maintaining his IDM credibility and pop sensibilities. His new release Harmonic Disturbance will be available by the time the tour begins.
