winamp 2 is great, as you know.
winamp 3 was a bloated crock of poop.
winamp 5 is an attempt to marry the two together (2+3=5), supposedly the
backend of 2 with the frontend of 3. so supposedly stable, uses winamp 2
AND 3 plugins (which was a big thing for me as winamp 3 didnt use the
winamp 2 plugins i needed), and nicer interface / better skinning
capabilities / video support etc.
i dunno. i tried it and thought it was fine, though one of the winamp 2
plugins i use doesn't skin properly with it, so i'm stuck on winamp 2
also. it seemed to work fine and has some nice default skins / skinning
capability (not least supports cleartype if your OS does). so give it a
try, you can always uninstall it.

(fwiw, ogg support is just a plugin in winamp, so you can use it as though
you were playing mp3 files too)
