well, i think that's another miscategorization, but you see my point.
just because they're on warp doesn't make them idm.
gallo actually records like todd rundgren did back in the 70's, on
antiquated analog equipment, nary a synth or computer in earshot.
the result is a kind of old-school singer-songwriter through a slight
art-rock filter.
broadcast, however, must be using samplers to create their 60's pop
group pastiches. they most resemble stereolab circa 'sound-dust'.
still, i'm glad warp branched out a bit and signed them. i also
enjoy the 'morvern callar' soundtrack, with its eclectic mix of warp
electro and 60's art-pop.
