Your email address most likely ended up in an address list that was
spoofed for a virus or spam. I received quite a few as well as complaints
from people I knew when my address got spoofed with the Sobig virus.
Unfortunately, as it's virus based and automated, there's not a whole lot
you can do. Sometimes it goes away, but lots of times the sudden increase
in your email address's visibility makes it easy for email harvesters to
find, hence increasing spam anyway.
Even more unfortunate is that the best way to avoid it is to use email less.
