I was really psyched to see this show, but you know the phrase "don't get yer hopes up..." I should have followed that advice. Not that it was Tom's (SQPR) fault, but once he began performing, the sound was AWFUL!!! I could barely recognize any songs, just high treble this and that. My ears were in pain. Lots of folx around me were shoving their fingers in their ears too! What I don't understand is WHY it needed to be so loud; sacrificing the performance? I mean Vibert's set was loud, but distinguishable and the experimental music between both performances was crystal clear. I was getting very jazzed during those 5-10 mins prior to Tom's performance thinking these sounds were indicative of how nice it was going to sound. Unfortunately, the sound guy seem to consistently turn it up, up, up. Towards the end of the gig, the set of speakers in the back half of the room had either blown or were shut off, I dunno. I am disappointed b/c this one detail and the MOST CRITICAL OF ALL, was thrown into the toilet. I can put up with a lot of things like; a 45-60min wait in the will call line, a fire marshall threatening to shut down the show because it seemed over sold, a bunch of people comming up to my father giving him wierd stares (like something is wrong with a 70 year old man at the SQPR show). But c'mon, shitty sound? I can never forgive that... I sure hope I am pointing my fingers in the right direction. bummed, g --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo!
