For Def Jux type stuff (which is nearly synonomous with any record produced by El-P), I'd say the three best albums released by them (IMHO of course) is in best-to-better order: Company Flow -- Funcrusher Plus Cannibal Ox -- The Cold Vein RJD2 -- Dead Ringer I've heard Cannibal Ox being compared to Wu-Tang quite a bit, but ehh... I don't really hear it. I love Rza to death, but El-P's more experimental bent sounds fresher to my ears. Of course you can't go wrong with Dr. Octagon's classic Dr. Octagonecologyst, which is fairly radio-friendly while still maintaining that edge. And Clouddead's self-titled album out on Mush will please any fan of eerie ambient soundscapes. And HELL, what about Mantronix??? I think it's appropriate to mention Mantronix given their influence on IDM -- get The Album and if you can (it's relatively rare), get Music Madness. I was lucky enough to get that CD not too long ago, and it's been quite a struggle to pry it out of my CD player. _________________________________________________________________ Protect your PC - get McAfee.com VirusScan Online http://clinic.mcafee.com/clinic/ibuy/campaign.asp?cid=3963 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
