Let me jump in here, as I am a natural born hip-hopper turned electronic music fanatic. "would Arrythmia be worth purchasing?" Yep - Anti-pop Consortium is on point, no doubt - this album shatters. Some recommendations... Canibal Ox - especially if you like Def Jux - Vast Aire brings it dirty J-Live - ill lyricist any way you cut it and "All of the Above" is a favorite Living Legends Crew- if you like MURS of Def Jux, this is his clique (I am fond of Scarub's stuff myself) Mystik Journeymen - part of the LLC Planet Asia - more of that Left Coast sound Madlib/Quasimoto - cratediggers beware - try "The Unseen" for some blunted beats Lootpack/Peanut Butter Wolf - see Madlib Anticon - either love 'em or hate 'em (Sole, Dose One, etc.) Oldominion - don't sleep on the Pacific Northwest Busdriver - flows faster than anyone - his new "Temporary Forever" album is classic Solesides/Quannum Projects - DJ Shadow, Latyrx, Blackalicious, etc. - enough said As for the classics (without going to far back into the more electro/b-boy oriented stuff)...I firmly believe that Rakim is the hypest emcee ever to grace the planet, so I would start with Eric B. & Rakim, Freestyle Fellowship, BDP, Hieroglyphics, Pharcyde, Black Sheep, Ultramagnetic MC's, EPMD, UTFO, Slick Rick ...but don't forget Black Star (Talib Kweli & Mos Def), Common, De la Soul, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Outkast, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, The Alkoholiks, etc. - more recent, but been around too. Hope this helps.........God I love hip-hop...
