Rupert Parkes (Photek) is expected to launch his Do Or
Die project soon. This time around it looks like
Photek is having his hand at hip hop.
Here's a brief mention I found:
The two hip hop tracks he mentions; ?Do Or Die? and
?Never Stop?, will get release through Loud Records ?
home to X-Ecutioners, Wu-Tang, Mob Deep and many more
West Coast heavyweights. ?I just met the guys from
Loud, played ?em what I did and it blew them away, so
they hooked me up with some of the new guys they?ve
just brought on board.? He has been working with an MC
called Chocolate Ty, and there has been talk of
collaborating with some of Loud?s more established
artists.?
?
Outside of Photek Records, on which he releases solely
drum & bass, he?s still tied into the deal that he
signed with Virgin in 1996. ?I?ve been working since
the last album on ideas for the next one, but I want
to get it right.? And since Virgin give him the
autonomy to chop and change the fundamentals of his
music, the genre of his next LP is presently being
deliberated. ?That?s the big dilemma,? he laughs.
