when collecting there comes a point when the collection is
'big enough'. everyone will have their own definition of this.
also there is the constant need for cash to buy new stuff.
so selling stuff is a good way to keep liquidity >0.
making it a small business via ebay and/or shop
mostly does not pay the rent or makes a good living,
and is time consuming to say the least.
but in my own humble case it is efficient enough
to pay for my (ummm, admittedly quite extensive ;-)
record buying & collecting habit plus some.
regarding promos there are two situations:
1 - received for free from the label / artist,
2 - bought for cash second hand.
i for one have never ever sold a promo
which i received from the sender for free,
which is sort of an honesty thing for me.
but then i receive far less promos than i should ;-)
different thing is when i bought a promo for money,
then that promo is just another second hand record to me.
