prolly about as hard as it is to get IDM artists to get their recorded rap / singing vocalists on stage with them for 'shows' man, the plaid / prefuse 73 / a. weatherall show had some really great production, but really poor stage presence... admitted i was a bit drunk and it came at the end of a shitty day, but when i pay $20 for a show, i want some entertainment, dammit! last 2 shows i saw at bimbo's were (admittedly long ago...2+ years?): 1) femi kutti - oh dude, that was awsome... 2) cold cut - now that's a laptop show! i understand that laptop shows often resemble dj sets more than performances (with a much higher level of mixing and selection, given) - perhaps the venue should reflect this? who knows... so, to create some crossover - how about some s-video out guys? i mean, with external instruments, the audience can at least get some idea of the artists interaction with their media. this would give you a similar presence? np: Elliott Smith - I Didn't Understand (via rusty's somafm.com - good enough to excuse the occasional house track that makes it's way to the clickhop stream ;^)) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
